Services are normally held at:
Saint Aidan Church, Arnold Road, Basford, NG6 0DN We are part of the worldwide Orthodox Church, which can trace its history back to the very beginning in the historical events related to the Gospels and Acts of the Apostles. It is the continuation of the original Church of Christendom and was the Universal Church until the Great Schism in 1054.
We exist to love and worship God and joyfully to do His will for us, and for each other, in all situations, as revealed in Christ and in ongoing Tradition. The heart of the Christian Gospel is nothing less than this - that God entered His Creation for love of all His creatures, and became Man so that we may live in Him. In the words of St Athanasius, 'He was made man that we might be made divine' (De Incarnatione, 54,3). |
We are part of the Orthodox Church in Great Britain and Ireland, under the jurisdiction of The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. Although our principal language is English, we follow the Russian Tradition.
Our members include people from many Orthodox countries as well as British people. We continue to be open to all Orthodox and all who wish to embrace or learn of the Orthodox Faith. The parishes and communities are organised into a Deanery directly under his Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira, with Father Patrick Hodson as the Dean. Our Priest in Charge is the Reverend Father David Gill.

Encyclical from Archbishop Nikitas on the occasion of Ochi Day ("No!" Day) in Greece. Liturgy for St. Thomas' day on 6th October cancelled. We are not able to use St Aidan’s on all weekdays because Christine and Paul of their congregation cook meals to take out to the elderly and the vulnerable; this activity occupies the church kitchen for most of the morning. This means that the planned Liturgy for St Thomas day on Tuesday, 6th October will be cancelled. You will see from the calendar that we will remember St Thomas also on Saturday, 10th October. I will serve the Liturgy on Saturday, 17th October. My good wishes to you all. May we all be greatly blessed Father David Services restarted from 19th July at St. Aidans. However:-
